Pesticide Minimization for Sustainable Agriculture : Advocating and Engaging Multi-sector Stakeholders

The event titled “Pesticide Reduction for Sustainable Agriculture: Stakeholder Engagement and Advocacy” was held on 1 st September, 2023 at CMT Resort, Bharatpur, Chitwan . The program was initiated welcome remarks in the following event was delivered by Prof. Dr. Sharad Raj Onta, Founding General Secretary,Nepal Public Health Foundation and Central Steering Committee member of the project Farming Health and Environment . Additionally, the brief presentation on the project was given by Ms. Samana Sharma, Project Manager of FHEN. This event was successfully completed along with a total of four sessions followed by the concluding remarks by Prof. Dr. Adhinav Vaidya, Board member, NPHF and Project co-ordinator of FHEN.

The objectives of the program were to exchange knowledge and experience by trained personnel for pesticide minimization, to address practices, needs and challenges related to organic certification and consumption patter, establishing pesticide minimization as the main agenda in public health field, prioritizing their practices and making efforts for advocacy and to involve the policy makers in the
discussion of Organic farming, market stabilization and consolidation of the consumer forum.

The program was attended by respected dignitaries from provincial, federal and municipal levels and agriculture stakeholders Farmers, pesticide retailers, FCHVs and health workers who had received training from our project FHEN where they reflected their experiences and practice regarding Pesticide minimization.
