Currently our country is facing lockdown to manage and to take precautions against COVID-19 transmission. Due to this situation, many people are facing a lot of challenges managing their basic needs such as food. In such crisis situation, on April 25, 2020, Nepal Public Health Foundation has taken a step to support the needy people of ward no. 4 by distributing food packages as per standard of Nepal government. The distribution was done by Dr. Mahesh Maskey, Executive Chief of NPHF and Dr. Aruna Upreti, Vice President of NPHF, in the presence of Mr. Mohan Bista and all the leadership of Ward no 4. Er. Ramesh Maskey and other representatives from the respective ward were also present. A total of 125 food packages (100 from NPHF and 25 from another social worker lady) was distributed in that event.
Another major social initiative of Nepal Public Health Foundation is the Namobuddha Nutrition Program. This program was initiated under the Chairmanship of Dr. Mahesh K Maskey in order to make the residents of Namobuddha independent and provide proper nutritious diet to their childrens. Under this program, the people of Namobuddha are provided with a certain amount of land and capital to start animal husbandary. The milk and eggs obtained from it are fed to the school childrens and the manure are used for agriculture. This project not only provides the children with proper nutritious diet but also provides a sustainable platform to the residents of Namobuddha.
As a social initiative of Nepal Public Health Foundation, Bagmati Cleaning Program is carried out every Saturday morning where all the staffs of NPHF has made their routine to visit the banks of Bagmati River to collect the waste and clean the holy river. Moreover, NPHF regularly organizes and participates in all the public awareness programs geared towards cleaning, sanitation and hygiene of general public.
