15th Annual General Meeting

Nepal Public Health Foundation hosted its 15th Annual General Meeting on September 20, 2024, with the esteemed presence of Honorable Ms. Bimala Ghimire, Vice President of the National Assembly, as the Chief Guest. The event was marked by heartfelt moments as Dr. Suniti Acharya, Senior Pediatrician and Board Member of Nepal Public Health Foundation, and Dr. Yogendra Pradhan, Former Senior Public Health Expert at NIHS, were honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards. Both recipients shared their decades of experience, inspiring all present with their dedication to the nation’s healthcare sector.

Seminar on “Understanding Research Priorities Related to Health SDGs in Nepal”

Nepal Public Health Foundation organized a seminar on 20th September 2024, under The Global Health Network Project titled “Understanding Research Priorities Related to Health SDGs in Nepal.” The event brought together leading experts from various health sectors to share their insights on different health-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The seminar aimed to identify key research priorities in relation to these health SDGs, encouraging collaboration and progress toward achieving these global goals in Nepal.
Dr. Meghnath Dhimal, Chief and Senior Research Officer at the Nepal Health Research Council, led the discussion on the Environmental Health theme. Dr. Swaraj Rajbhandari, a Senior Obstetrician and Gynecologist, contributed his expertise on the Maternal and Neonatal Health theme. Dr. Janak Koirala, Professor of Medicine and Infectious Disease, shared his knowledge on the theme of Infectious Diseases. For the theme of Mental Health and Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), Prof. Dr. Jagadish Prasad Agrawal, Former Dean of the Institute of Medicine, offered valuable insights, while Dr. Puspa Prasad Sharma, Professor and Chair of Psychiatry at KIST Medical College, specifically addressed the Mental Health theme. Dr. Akritee Pokharel, Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Pharmacology, rounded out the panel with her expertise on the Pharmacovigilance and Drug Safety theme.

Breakfast Meeting: Dr. Meghnath Dhimal’s Presentation on Health Research Priority Setting and SDG Alignment in Nepal

On September 15, 2024, Nepal Public Health Foundation hosted a breakfast meeting that featured a presentation by Dr. Meghnath Dhimal, Senior Research Officer at the Nepal Health Research Council. The event gathered notable figures for discussions centered around Dr. Dhimal’s presentation, which provided valuable insights into health research priority setting and the alignment of health policies in Nepal with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The presentation also highlighted strategies for advancing Universal Health Coverage (UHC), strengthening health systems, and addressing the growing burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

Meeting With the Zite Team

Nepal Public Health Foundation had a valuable meeting with the Zite team to share our experience with their software for the ENDLINE survey titled “Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice Among Farmers and Stakeholders Regarding Pesticide Use and Its Health Effects in Chitwan District,” part of the Farming Health and Environment Nepal project.

Nepal Public Health Foundation (NPHF) had a fruitful discussion meeting with Hon. Bimala Ghimire, Vice Chairperson of the House of Representatives, at Singha Durbar, focusing on the project ‘Reducing Maternal and Neonatal Mortality Rates in an Eco-Ethnographically Diverse Kapilvastu District of Lumbini Province through a Community-Engaged, Digitalized Comprehensive Continuum of Care.’ in the presence of NPHF Founding and Executive Chair Dr. Mahesh Kumar Maskey and Founding Member Dr. Swaraj Rajbhandari, highlighting efforts to improve maternal and neonatal health of Kapilvastu district.
