Workshop on “Mind-Brain Health & Policy Pathways for Nepal”

We were honored to host the workshop “Mind-Brain Health & Policy Pathways for Nepal,” chaired by Dr. Hema Kumari Pradhan, Senior Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Kathmandu Model Hospital, and Dr. Hemav Rajbhandari, Neurosurgeon at Kathmandu Model Hospital and Treasurer of the Nepal Epilepsy Association.

The workshop featured insightful presentations by Ms. Anna Minarik, Programme Manager at the Centre for Global Epilepsy, and Ms. Deepesha Silpakar, Project Coordinator at the Nepal Public Health Foundation. They presented the Theory of Change for integrating maternal health and epilepsy, highlighting the importance of addressing the needs of women with epilepsy across the continuum of maternal healthcare.

With a particular focus on embedding epilepsy and maternal health within national policies and health systems, the workshop brought together government representatives, policymakers, clinicians, researchers, public health professionals, civil society organizations, and development partners. The event provided a valuable platform for fostering dialogue, strengthening partnerships, and collaboratively identifying practical pathways to translate evidence into policy and practice, advancing equitable and integrated mind-brain health in Nepal.
