NPHF successfully completed its 11th Annual General Meeting on October 14,  2020 via Zoom

On October 14,  2020, Nepal Public Health Foundation successfully completed its 11th Annual General Meeting. This year, due to COVID pandemic and its restrictions,  the meeting was hosted through Zoom. The meeting was held within 6 months from the closing of the financial year.

Nepal Public Health Foundation (NPHF) was established with a mission to have concerted public health action, research, and policy dialogue for health development, particularly of the socio-economically marginalized population and with a goal to ensure Civil Society’s pro-active intervention in public health.

Like every year, this year also Nepal Public Health Foundation honored two distinguished figures in the public health sector with  lifetime achievement awards. Recognizing their years of dedicated service and  contribution in the field of public health we had a privilege to honor Dr. Gouri Shankar Lal Das and Professor Gita Pandey with NPHF LifeTime Achievement Award 2020.

The event was divided into two sessions; an inaugural session and closed session. In the inaugural session, two eminent personalities were felicitated by Dr. Rita Thapa, President, Dr. Badri Raj Pande, Advisor and Ms. Bhagwati Sangroula,  (Director, Planning and Program Division, SWC) who was also the Guest of Honor of the program. Then Dr. Gouri Shankar Lal Das and Prof. Gita Pandey gave their remarks.

After that, Dr. Sharad Onta congratulated our ex-staff of FHEN project and HOPE-grid project with a certificate of appreciation for their immense sincerity and dedication on the completion of the respective projects.

Then Dr. Abhinav Vaidya delivered his vote of thanks. Then this session adjourned with closing remarks presented by Dr. Rita Thapa. The end of an inaugural session was followed by a closed session.

Farewell program for Dr Jos Vandelaer

NPHF organized a small farewell event for Dr Jos Vandelaer, World Health Organizaton (WHO)country representative to Nepal. The event was organized at Hotel Shankar and was attended by Dr Rita Thapa, Dr Mahesh Maskey, Dr Buddha Basnyat, Dr Sameer Mani Dixit and Dr Abhinav Vaidya. Dr Vandelaer spoke about his experiences in Nepal and also thanked NPHF for the gesture.

41 st Social Week Awareness and Interaction Program Nepal : Corona Pandemic and Our social Responsibility

Nepal Public Health Foundation organized an awareness and interaction program on September 26, 2020 in association with Bishal Milan Kendra and Kathmandu Metropolitan, Ward no 4 on the occasion of 41 st social service week.

The interaction program was held around the topic, “Corona Pandemic and Our social Responsibility”. This program was chaired by NPHF President Dr. Rita Thapa and the chief guest was the member of Provincial parliament of Bagmati Province, Honorable Mr. Narayan Silwal. Speakers from different fields of public health and ward office participated and spoke on the issues of Covid-19 and the responsibilities that organizations and individuals had towards their society in dealing with this pandemic.

HOPE GRID Advocacy and Dissemination program was successfully conducted on September 30

A final dissemination session for HOPE GRID project was held on September 30 via zoom where representatives from PQPMC, MoALD, DoHS, CPFSL, NHRC, SWC and CPSP attended. In the hour and a half event, the results of the study was presented and outcomes of the study shared among the attendees. The final report was also launched in the same event, which were sent to the attendees after. The attendees all commended the research project and expressed their opinions on the important outcomes that could come out of scaling up the project in the future.
